Our clients trust Yokan to deliver precise metrology solutions that are fully integrated with our manufacturing capabilities. Our CMM services accurately verify even the most difficult-to-reach part dimensions, ensuring flawless location and geometry.
For delicate, small machined parts that are susceptible to damage, we utilize advanced non-contact CMM technology within our inspection services. This allows us to obtain highly accurate readings of the most minute features without any risk of compromising the part.
Every order, without exception, undergoes a multi-stage validation process:
● In-Process Inspection: Dimensional checks are performed at each machine setup.
● Final Validation: Comprehensive inspection using CMM, optical comparators, and custom gauges.
● Full Traceability: Lot traceability is standard on all production jobs.
● Complete Documentation: We provide Certificates of Conformance (CoC), First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), material certifications, and finish certs upon request.
We partner with clients who require full quality assurance, not just parts that might pass. Our inspection team collaborates directly with programmers and machinists from the start, ensuring quality is built into the process, not just inspected at the end.

While CNC turning is highly precise, it can leave minor surface imperfections such as tool marks or burrs. These can affect both function and aesthetics. Our post-processing services are designed to refine the surface, ensuring a superior finish that meets your exact requirements.
We offer a variety of surface finishes, including:
● As Machined: A standard finish where cylindrical surfaces are typically smoother than those achieved with CNC milling.
● Bead Blasting: A process that lightly abrades the surface to produce a uniform, matte aesthetic finish.
● Deburring: Edges are specifically broken and smoothed via a light bead blast to safely remove sharp burrs and metal slivers, enhancing part safety and functionality.
CNC turning is an efficient and cost-effective method for producing parts with rotational symmetry, often faster than milling. Our skilled engineering team provides complete in-house design and fabrication within our 53,000 sq/ft facility.

CNC turning is a subtractive manufacturing process where a cutting tool is fed into a rotating workpiece—typically a round bar—to remove material and create precise cylindrical shapes. This is performed on a CNC lathe.
● Ideal For: Creating parts with rotational symmetry, such as shafts, pins, and bushings.
● Materials: While round bar stock is most common, square or hexagonal bars can also be used.
● Key Outcome: The process expertly controls both the outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) of a part to achieve high dimensional accuracy and superior surface finishes.
The process is a streamlined, digital-to-physical workflow:
1. Design & Programming: A 3D CAD model is converted into machining instructions (G-code) via CAM software.
2.Setup: The required tools—such as turning tools, drills, grooving tools, and taps—are loaded into the machine’s tool changer.
3.First Article Inspection: A single part is machined, meticulously inspected, and the program is refined to ensure perfection before full production begins.
4.Production: For high-volume runs, bar feeders automatically load new material, enabling uninterrupted, efficient production.
CNC turning offers distinct advantages for manufacturing round parts:
● High Precision & Accuracy: Achieves tight tolerances consistently, eliminating human error.
● Excellent Repeatability: Every part in a run is identical to the first.
● Superior Efficiency: Automated processes and high speeds lead to faster production times and cost-effectiveness compared to manual machining.
● Minimal Defects: The automated, programmed nature of the process ensures exceptionally low defect rates.
Rough turning and finish turning are the two stages of the turning process used to make machined parts. While the objective of rough-cut is to remove the bulk of unwanted material, finish turning is used to improve surface finish, tolerance, and dimensional accuracy.
Here are the primary differences between them:
1.Cutting Depths
Rough turning removes large amounts of material quickly to achieve a particular shape with a relatively heavy cut depth. Finish turning uses smaller cutting depths to provide an improved surface finish and highly accurate dimensions.
2.Speed
Rough turning is commonly done at higher speeds to remove material quickly, while finish turning is performed at lower speeds to provide a smoother surface finish and more precise cuts.
3.Tool Selection
Because rough turning demands a heavier cut, it frequently employs larger and more robust tool inserts. Finish turning, on the other hand, generally utilizes smaller and lighter inserts for improved surface finishes.
4.Cutting Path
Rough turning typically employs a straight cutting path, while finish turning may use a technique known as “light cuts,” which involves the tool following a slightly curved path.
Both stages are essential in the turning process, with rough turning used to remove bulk material and produce the desired shape, and finish turning used to refine the size and surface finish of the machined part.
Designing for manufacturability (DFM) is key to optimizing cost, speed, and quality. We recommend:
● Standard Sizes: Design outside diameters (OD) slightly smaller than a standard bar stock size to minimize material waste.
● Avoid Sharp Corners: Specify a radius instead of a sharp corner to strengthen the part and simplify machining.
● Minimize Thin Walls: Avoid flimsy, delicate features that can deflect or vibrate during cutting.
● Manage Length-to-Diameter Ratios: For long, thin parts, consider using a steady rest for support. Optimal ratios are 3:1 or less.
● Limit Hole Depth: Deep, precision holes (e.g., beyond a 10:1 length-to-diameter ratio) are challenging and may require specialized tooling.
Our comprehensive in-house capabilities ensure we can handle virtually any turned part requirement:
Primary Operations:
● Boring
● Drilling
● Facing
● Grooving
● Knurling
● Parting/Cutting Off
● Threading (External & Internal)
● Turning (Contour, Form, Taper, Straight)
Secondary Services:
● Grinding
● Standard Tolerance: ±0.005mm
